Privacy Policy

HomeSpend ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by SmartData IQ. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the HomeSpend mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

We do not collect location data, health information, contacts, browsing history, or payment card numbers.

3. Receipt Scanning

When you use the receipt scanning feature, optical character recognition (OCR) is performed on-device using Google ML Kit. The raw image is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly choose to attach it to a transaction. Attached images are stored in Firebase Storage and are accessible only to members of your household.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the App:

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and applicable data protection law.

5. Household Data

Financial transactions and household data are scoped to your household. Other members of your household can see the transactions you enter. When you leave a household, your data remains in the household record but your access is removed. You may delete your account at any time from Settings to permanently remove your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Household data (transactions, chores, shopping lists) that has been shared with other members may be retained as part of the household record.

7. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Google Firebase with role-based security rules. Access to your household data is restricted to authenticated members of that household. We follow industry-standard practices, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Website Analytics

Our website (homespend.smartdataiq.com) uses Google Analytics (Google tag G-71QJCYKRHM) to collect anonymous information about how visitors interact with our pages — such as pages viewed, time on site, and general geographic region. This data does not identify you personally and is not linked to your HomeSpend account. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

9. Children's Privacy

HomeSpend is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can:

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
